Effective e-Mail Management

Not only it is important to know when it is best to start managing your emails (as we talked last time, NOT the very first thing in the morning) but it’s also important to spend the right amount of time in your email management sessions. Spending more than an hour an a time in email can be counter-productive.  Try to set 3-4 sessions during your day when you are taking at least 15 minutes, but no more than an hour to manage your emails. Also, it’s better to use your laptop or laptop/tablet (i.e. Surface Pro) instead of your smartphone or iPad (more on this next blog).

In addition, check regularly (from your smartphone) for time sensitive emails, keeping in mind that you don’t want to let things get out of your control. Avoid whenever possible turning a quick email check into an unplanned email session unless time permits.
